Post transmission thump thump

Hello. First time here. I love this site. I'm constantly coming here to read the posts. I've had a lot of questions answered. Ok, to the point. I have a 1966 ford galaxie with ,I think, a c6 trans. When I step on the gas hard the car will lite the tires for a very short time then the whole car will start to shake as if you were driving on those ribs on the highway that tell you to slow down. What's going on with my trans?
I assume it's my trans. If I have the steering wheel turned left or write while gunning it there is no problem. Sorry it took me so long to explain.

I think it sounds like wheel hop also, used to have a 352 powered '66 that would do the same thing. The same thing that makes it ride so nice causes that nasty side effect.

Agree- a friend had a Falcon in high school and it did the very same thing- those light leaves just flexed and hopped...
