Post Transmissions

I have a 69 B body car with a 440 in it. I have a chance to obtain a 727 transmission from e bay but the seller is not sure what year the car it came from was. It was on a 383 motor and my question is will all big block 727's interchange with each other reguargless of the year, or do certain ones go with certain year motors?

From what I remember, the 727 came in 3 versions. There was a 6 Cyl, small block, and big block. There was also early versions that were cable shift. I believe that the cable shift versions ended in the early to mid 60's. All big block versions should interchange, although you need to make sure if you need the cable shift that was used with puch botton shifters. Another thing to watch is the torque convertor. I believe all chrysler engines were externally balanced thru the convertor. There are weights on the convertors that balance the engine. Make sure the weights are the same.
