Treading on up, Nitto NT 420S opinions please
Going back to Wilmington, Ohio in April to chase landspeed records and with a goal to run 140 mph in my 2003 SS Silverado truck. It ran 134 last April with a documented 25 mph quartering wind hitting me in the left front fender and drivers door with gust of 34 mph. I am going back with 40+ additional hp for approximately 445 hp and the wind Gods cooperating the 140 is achievable. I am running 20" Goodyear Formula ll tires now but they are so hard and stiff they make for a harsh ride on highway driving. The truck is as clean as the day it was new and with a red painted on Hockey Stripe, five piece black billet grille, smoked light covers and tasteful pinstripping it's not a bad looker either. I occasionally dragrace it and I am looking at suspension upgrades and may try some autocross in a 5830 lb. truck and wouldn't rule out some track day events. I want a directional tire that looks good as well as performing well. The truck would never be driven in bad weather rain, snow or ice unless caught in one of the aforementioned to or from Qhio. One other requirement the tires would have to have at least a H speed rating and like everyone budget is a consideration.
The tire I am leaning toward right now is a Nitto NT 420S, I like the look of the directional tread pattern and I got a website quote of $684.00 mounted and balanced.
Does anyone have experience with this tire pro or con or have another tire that you would recommend ?
Thanks,
Garrell Patterson
