Tremec tr-6060 on BMW

Hi,

this is my second post here regarding my setup, and hope that you help me here again

AGAIN
Small intro about my BMW engine for people who are not familer with BMW engines:

Engine : m50b25 (2.5L) stroked with forged internals to reach 3.0L, this engine have straight six cylinders with 84mm piston bore and 24 valves head, I boosted my engine with kind of big turbo, the power goal is to reach around 800hp.

I solved the clutch flywheel issue by getting ready made one.

Now, I want to place stronger transmission, BMW have good manual transmissions, but not rated for a high HP and torque numbers, I searched around and found Tremec tr-6060 with a very good price, I searched around for that gearbox, and found very contradicted information and looking for your help here guys.

I read that tr-6060 have the same internals of T56 Magnum, is that right?

The most important thing I read that it's rated for around 800ft/lbs of torque , and someone said it's ok to exceed that number as long as you don't power shift it!! for me I have after market ECU that enables me to perform WOT shifting, it will cut/retard the spark and enrich the fuel mixture, this way will be very easy on the gearbox and driveline while you are power shifting, so will the TR-6060 survive if I did this and had higher torque number? plus am welling to run Hoosier 8x26", so a burnout and hard start using launch control will be made.

For the fitting, yes, I will be able to fit it, but lots of fabrication will be needed, I have to replace the bell housing and make more room for the tr-6060 to fit.

So do you recommend it or what? know that I will not be able to get T56 or even T56 Magnum, cuz am living far from US, and the shipping for such things will be crazy insane.

Thanks in advance guys.

The T56 Magnum is an 'over the counter' version of the TR6060. For all intents and purposes it IS a 6060. All modern Tremec transmissions have a build number stamped on a tag. For a TR6060/T56 Magnum it will look something like this "TUET1648" This will tell us what its internals are in terms of double/triple cone synchronisers, and the gear ratios. I suggest before you buy it, you verify the tag number. I would avoid the earlier T56 due to parts availability for you. The company I work for sells Tremec parts and back orders for us are in the 45-90 day territory or longer on T56 parts (TR6060 and T56 Mag are a bit easier to get but more expensive). If you get this gearbox, and it breaks something, expect there to be delays on parts for 30-60 days and be pleasantly surprised if one of us has it in stock.

You may be better off buying a newly built unit from someone like D&D Performance, Tick Performance, RPM Transmissions or The Gear Box. At least what you're getting will be newly built with Tremec parts and it will be exactly what you need, instead of some mystery box.

Hi, and thanks for the quick response.

Here the numbers I found on this gearbox
209AG
TTRTM240901080
P05038209AG
TREMEC
CUCA-3351
FILL

is that the TR-6060 or am mistaken!?!, it was taken out of car with SRT8 engine, but nit sure what is the car cuz they don't have it.

and for sure getting fresh build gearbox will be the best idea, but as I told you, I live very far from USA the shipping would cost me the gearbox price, while I got this gearbox with redeculas low price.

That all looks to be production and casting codes; you need to find the sheetmetal tag that should be attached to the gearbox

CUCA is a casting number; 3351 is a VERY early number, which is surprising. Try and see if the metal tag is attached. Sorry to be a pest.

Here is a TUET10150 tag which is an early Camaro TR6060.
