Do not see any reason you could not tow with a triangulated 4 bar set up. (or a 3/4 bar with panhard). It is neat to tow with an oldie. I towed a 15' Terry Bass boat with a flat head powered 34 pick up in the early 70s. The 36 pickup in my avatar towed an 18 ft Glastron Bass boat from Miami Fl to Austin Tx and many fishing trips since. It also towed it's Coupe Cousin in the avatar from Oklahoma City to Austin Tx and Austin to East Tenn. Wish I had some pictures of either of those trips. Having revealed all this, it had leaf springs and air shocks under it. When I put the present triangulated 4 bar under it, I did not put a hitch on it but would not hesitate to do so!!
