On the subject of that bug, it is rumored that in 1938 or so Porsche or whom ever was in charge (Hitler?) came to America and got a 1938 and a 1936 Ford and brought them back to Germany to dissect them for ideas on the "Peoples car". If anyone doesn't believe this, I urge them to study the early bug (1949-53).

This is the inside, but show a photo of the outside of a door to a Ford nut and I'll bet he will think it's a 38ish Ford door.
It even had the "Vent window" in the front of the single glass in the door just as 34-39 Fords had!
What other cars do you know of that had the large bolt pattern? 36-39 Ford and the early Beetle "Type I"!
