We started a trivia thread over at another forum and it has been a lot of fun.

Here are the ground rules. It starts with one question. The first reply with the right answer gets the floor for a new question. It continues like that unless, A) the person who has the floor doesn't ask a new question, or B) no one gets the correct answer. In that case, the person with the floor asks a new question. No more than one question on the floor at a time, and discussion/clarification is welcome until the floor is taken over by a new question.

See this thread for an example of how it goes: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/trivia/1454/page1/

First question: In the 1952 Indy 500, what type of fuel was burned in the record-setting pole-position #28 car? Hint: it won pole position by a full 4 mph over the second-place Ferrari

No Dan, I swipped it off the net.

To correct my earlier post. There are reproductions available but they are a "universal" fitting a few years. I want the year make and model of THIS one.

Dan, you got it and you can have the floor. But the reason you picked 26 was wrong.

If anyone wants to give it a try for Hotrodder brownie points, the DOOR is a 26, one year only, why not a 27?

1926 was the first year a drivers side door was offered.

In the early days of the automobiles, many, many companies evolved into specialty suppliers. TRW is one of them, what are their roots, going back to 1901.

Nope, the 26 has smaller holes. It's Dans floor. And I am not going to penalize him for calling the gas filler door a cowl vent. :)

But on the same note, I am a moron! I posted the 27 door instead of the 26! CRAP, but you guys didn't know anyway. CRAP, the second photo here is the 26, the first photo and the one I posted is a 27.

TRW originated in 1901 with the Cleveland cap screw company, and their initial products were bolts with heads electrically welded to the shafts.
