Too easy. The 1964 GTO was credited as being the first... and John Delorean was given the credit.
Since the term "Muscle Car" didn't exist before then... and that is widely viewed as the "Muscle Car Era" ('64-'70... before unleaded and lower compression), can something before or after that even be considered eligible?
BTW, I heard a guy in Salt Lake was putting 6-horse teams on his smaller wagons in 1820. :-)~
I'll wager my nearly 50 years of involvement... and my 6000 magazines of cover to cover research. I remember when the Pontiac dealer got them in, and I had to go look at this new approach to American performance cars. {:-)
