Just so there's no confusion, this isn't limited to a '55 Chevy. It's for a Chevy from '55 and newer- up to the present, even.

The Vega presents a conundrum for me. While the valve system was not hydraulic, the terminology "lifter" could be questioned, because the Vega OHC set up used a "pusher" rather than a "lifter".
I seem to recall it being called a "cam follower", but that was years ago.
I'm going to let it play out a bit longer, as the Vega was not what I had in mind- although points awarded for "outside the box" thinking! And the Vega has less HP than my engine, as well.
