We started a trivia thread over at another forum and it has been a lot of fun.
Here are the ground rules. It starts with one question. The first reply with the right answer gets the floor for a new question. It continues like that unless, A) the person who has the floor doesn't ask a new question, or B) no one gets the correct answer. In that case, the person with the floor asks a new question. No more than one question on the floor at a time, and discussion/clarification is welcome until the floor is taken over by a new question.
First question: In the 1952 Indy 500, what type of fuel was burned in the record-setting pole-position #28 car? Hint: it won pole position by a full 4 mph over the second-place Ferrari
You are correct! The Daimler Hemis were used in the Dart (2.5 L) sport car and the Majestic Major sedan ( 4.5L ) along with the Jaguar clone 250 ( 2.5 L ).
Hi
cobalt327 Thanks for the pictures of that little jewel, man that one came out of left field, never heard anything about it before,
& the picture of the ring gap spacing in another thread. Where do you come up with all these obscure pictures? good job Mark.
Rich
Thanks, Richard. For anything old/obscure/odd I head over to HAMB and do a search. Most times something useful comes up- like the hemi photos.
That engine was news to me, too. But the English guys are up on them, as the link above shows- got them in rails, even. Pretty cool. I've always admired the English, Australian and New Zealander hotrodders and racers. They are VERY creative (if a bit loony ) and haven't got a fearful bone between them all, it seems.
OK, looks like there isn't much interest in my last question. In an effort to avoid killing this thread (again) I would like to ask a different question instead...
By the way, here is the answer to the last question:
I KNOW the answer! I have seen that "logo" - I'm not sure if I have seen it "in person" or if I've only seen pix of it, but I HAVE seen that before!
Now if only my ol' grey cells would cooperate and let me find that piece of memory....
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
