I asked that very question way back when this thread started and was told that it was OK.
Now, I look at the questions as a learning experience and if someone wants to try his skills with the internet looking for the answer, go for it. Dave W |

It's ok to google for the answer, I just have a person rule that google is the last resort and if I do find it, maybe not even post the answer but let someone else do it being I "cheated" myself.
But for anyone to google, it's all good. Are you kidding, some of these questions are so damn hard there is no way anyone is going to know. I like the questions that there is no way you can google them. But heck, there are only a few of those! Brian |

Mr Terraplane. I did not use the internet until after I answered. I used my dad (pretty smart guy) for the location and we guessed at the date using all the previous answers for guidance. As to the next question. Here goes.
When was the first land speed record set using the Bonneville Salt Flats? |

Now Dave has the choice of which answer he is looking for. I guess it doesn't say it was installed in Salt Lake. But one could have been bob |

I think the key to this question is LAND SPEED record. Not just a "record" but the "Land speed record", the fastest speed by a car in the world. I think that is what you are after.
I am thinking the first car that really needed that big of a place to run is something like the Goldenrod in the mid sixties, 1965ish is my guess. First 400 MPH I believe. Brian |

I do try to give others a chance to answer before I start searching for an answer, whether it be an internet search, or books, or magazines, or asking others (typically my elders) who might know (what my Dad calls 'Geezering' a question rather than 'Googling' it). |
