I guess we really need to know the meaning of "55-up".

was it "anything after 54".... or "55-57"?

No one yet.

Just so there's no confusion, this isn't limited to a '55 Chevy. It's for a Chevy from '55 and newer- up to the present, even.

EDIT- Sorry, I did not see there was another page.

1955 model year and newer.

The Vega presents a conundrum for me. While the valve system was not hydraulic, the terminology "lifter" could be questioned, because the Vega OHC set up used a "pusher" rather than a "lifter". I seem to recall it being called a "cam follower", but that was years ago.

I'm going to let it play out a bit longer, as the Vega was not what I had in mind- although points awarded for "outside the box" thinking! And the Vega has less HP than my engine, as well.

The way this works is you guess the right answer to the trivia question, THEN you get to ask your own trivia question- unless you're asking about the first Chevy V8 in regards to an earlier trivia question.

I would say 1917. It was called the "Baby Grand" or something close to that.

I would almost guarantee that the same question was already asked somewhere along the way. I mean, 2900-plus posts...

Welcome aboard Cleanspeed...

Great question, Cobalt.

While we're on the subject of the 1917 Chevrolet V8

Chevrolet discontinued their 55 HP V8 in 1918. It wasn't until what year that a Chevrolet car was produced with equal or greater horsepower?
