I don't know but the question is pretty timely with Shelby's passing today. Carroll Shelby

How about it was installed in pieces tranny first then the engine because the body is attached to the chassis and they couldn't get it thru the hood with the engine and trans together?

I know the trans in my TR6 goes in/out through the passenger compartment, there is a removable tunnel, got to pull the seats and carpet + the tunnel.

More British innovation

I remember in my early T-Birds if it had a Ford-O you had to pull engine and trans as a unit but you could sneak a 3-speed out from below.

Trivia thread

This thread has been going on a long time before I used it so I don't know what has been done before but why don't you maybe give another clue if it can be done in 24 hrs. and if no one can answer it in 12 more hours give the answer and the questionaire can ask another or pass to someone else.

I Have a great question I figure someone out there will know the answer to, only trouble is I forgot the answer myself and I can't remember where I read it !

Seen in the photo below of a Daytone being assembled, the front sheetmetal hasn't been installed but it looks like the engine was set into the chassis from above, then the front sheetmetal assembled to the chassis. But that wouldn't make it very unusual...

The Daytona's were not production cars. You have to remember Shelby didn't build the bodies, All he did was basicly install the drive trains Body and chassie came from Europe.

I see no reason to dump this question when there is active discussion. And for you to ask a question you must know the answer, or what's the point?

I could ask, "What kid of car was Elvis conceived in"?

Thru the grille? Maybe they removed the lower piece under the grille and after installation they welded the lower piece back on?

Nope. The method was not that unconventional, but it had a different slant to the installation that made it easier. Just a little twist.

Trivia thread

I wasn't talking about just this question but any that has gone on for a long time and no one close then give a clue if possible after another 24 hours and if no answer in 12 more hours the asker answers the question. Then he can ask another question or pass to someone else.
I don't mean to sound irritable but I would never ask a question that I would never know if it was answered correctly it is just frustrating as hell to know something one minute and totally lose it the next. I went to the local tire store the first of this wek in my Wifes van and got a price on brand x tires, one number is all I had to remember and told the salesman I didn't need the price written down. Five minutes home and had no idea what the price was and had to stop back by this morning.

I do that sometimes myself! (I think it's called 'old age'.) lol

So going by the latest clues (different 'slant' and 'twist'), it may possibly have something to do w/tipping the engine to one side or the other to set it in, maybe to miss the steering. Total wag.
