Maybe the '70-'72 ZR1 would qualify as long as the C3 was your favorite type, but what's rarest and most desirable is very subjective. I have no idea what the numbers were for them.

Cobalt, that's "rarest" and "most desirable".

Mark they only built 53 ZR1 corvettes from 70 thru 72, which makes it the rarest and most wanted in the SBC vettes built , and i do agree with you on being the most desirable that does depend on the buyer. Just my 2 cents.

OK I'll bite. It has to be the legendary " Aerovette" A total of three were built but modified many times. GM fiddled with them from 1969 through 1979. It was to be a mid engine car. during it's concept period it was powered by numerous different engine configurations including two different Wankles. A 350 was finally decided on and the car was approved for production slatted to start in 1980. So in theroy you could go to the dealership and order one. Then before the actual production run Chevy dumped it.
So without a doubt the Aerovette has to be the " rarest and most desirable" Corvette ever built.

Unless you like red cars.

While I would debate most desirable I am going to vote for the ZR1. It appears to me to meet the criteria and will bring prices over a million dollars.

I actuality the rarest and most desirable one is the Vette parked in your garage and they only made one.

Yeah, I got the one-year-only model w/the optional treatment that makes it invisible!

But seriously, I always wanted a 'Vette. First love was a '64 coupe, Daytona blue (still one of my all-time favorite colors) w/black interior w/327 and 4-speed. Belonged to a guy who would later become my brother in law.

Now? I'd settle for any Corvette. But it will be something that I will never own. And I'm OK w/that.

Trivia thread

Just got in from thr car show, there was 46 really nice cars there a yellow 67 tri-power big biock 67 Corvette and 55 Chevy Belair both making their debut to the public and built in the same shop and well known that both cost over 100 grand, street rods etc. This club to save money like everyone else gave out twenty framed certificates in lieu of trophys and one 30" tall peoples choice award. I carried my old 37 Chevy hotrod truck painted hotrod primer in the driveway in front of my shop. I was realy hoping to win one of the certificates but when they called out the twentyth I thought it still been a great day, not hot nice cars renewing old aquaintenances, then they said by popular vote of other entrants and visitors the Peoples Choice goes to number 11...... Garrell Patterson! The end to a great day.
All of you are close with the early 70's ZR1 but that is incorrect. This car wasn't a concept car or special order car and a thousand people or any one could order it and you had to buy three more options plus the main option to get one. The total cost was around $11,000.00 to order one which was the average price of a three bedroom home at that time, promise.

Trivia thread

Sorry guys, I went back and read all the posts but I already had read them and no one has got the year, car or total built yet. It was as easy to order as picking a 300 hp or 350 hp 350 ci. engine and it was very fast. I told you that you are close with the last guesses and even how much the cost was thats about all the hints I can give you without the answer.
