Looks like a reel to reel player for a car! Hmm i've never seen one before, maybe they don't really exist.

I had one of these in my truck when I first got it. Nope, not a record player or a reel to reel.

I see the separation knob. Could it be a reverb unit?

Nope it is a audio player of some kind. An old guy like you may have missed this time period. But if you are 55ish you should have seen one of these around your highschool.

Four-runner (pun intended) to the 8-track. Short lived.

I believe that is a continuous loop 4-track tape player.

As a young man of 26, this guy, with an engineering degree, turned the race world upside down. What innovative additions (4) did he make to race cars, what was the race car company name, and what was his name? Some of these innovations were banned, some are still used today.

I must have been hiding under a log. It's a good thing you "youngsters" remember them.

Jim Hall, Chaparral Cars, his " his sucker car" , a " semi- automatic transmision' for race cars, numerous air dams and spoilers, and a "in car adjustable rear wing".

His "sucker car" was one of the most interesting things to ever hit any automotive race track. I'm glad you got that one Booth, I didn't have any clue what so ever. I thought the thread would go dead with that one.

Was I right?

That Chaparral 2J "sucker car" and Granatelli's turbine car certainly made the rest of the racing wrold sit up and say " Heyyy, they're beating the crap out of us, they must be cheating! Besides we didn't think of it first. Not fair! Snivel! Mommy!" Ahh the injustice of innovation!
