Without raising the hood or opening the doors how can you identify a 1956 Corvette from a 1957 Corvette?

Your going to love the answer!
Aren't the wheel covers slightly different one has holes and one doesn't?

Trivia thread

We could both posibly be correct but you adjusted a 56 mirror with a thumscrew and I think you had to lossen a nut and adjust the mirror and I am not sure but the 57 had the brand new 283 ci. engine and the 56 the 265 ci. I can't remember if there was an engine designation or not but I am 100% sure about the mirrors.

If a tie we may have to duel with two of my .44 magnums!

Trivia thread

Clarify the above you adjusted the rear view miror on a 56 with a thumscrew and on a 57 Corvette you had to losen a set nut adjust then tighten positive this is correct.

Nope you got it right. The only deference exterior wise between a 56 and a 57 was a wing nut.

The photo is really too dark for my old eyes to have said it wasn't a 'Vette, but what little I thought I could make out, it didn't look to have 'Vette valve covers. It did look like a SBC generator adjustment arm, and it also looked to have rams horns, so I was thinking maybe it was from one of those rare '57 Chevy FI cars or something like that, more than a 'Vette. BTW, I have no idea if the '57 FI car used that type tach drive- or even if it had a tach, period.

In any event, I pass. Carry on, gents.

Corvette Trivia

My turn I assume:

What is one of the rarest options ever offered that was neither a power or handleing upgrade, cost was $175.00 for a Corvette?
Good luck

I'm disqualifying myself on this one- I peeked. I had guessed something else, while checking to see if I was right I found it (I think), but it wasn't what I had guessed except the year.
