Brian : Nope first year is not the correct answer.
Garrell: 1980 was the first year that Corvette as well as all the other automobiles was mandated by the federal government to limit the speedo to only register no more than 85 mph. The reasoning was it would encourage fuel savings. Re-asking my origional question. What was odd about the side pillar vents on a 1964 Corvette? |

In the immortal words of MartinSr. yesterday when someone had the correct answer :Oh, dung dung dung you got it boothboy.
Back to your question wasn't the left side the only side that functioned as a vent? Garrell |

Quote:
As far as I'm concerned, the earliest C1's ('53 to early 55) were the worst. They were roadsters instead of convertibles, they only came with a 6 cylinders and Powerglides, and had 6 volt electrical systems. |

You make good points and the Corvette platform was almost cancelled because of those problems but the one I am talking about was almost humilating for Chevy and Corvette and was an official known fact.

Well probably the worst Corvette model year was 1983. That Corvette was so problem filled that the did not produce any for the public a total of 43 83 cars were produced and only one is confirmed to exist. I saw it at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Now if that isn't shameful I don't know what is!
Saying that 1980 was also a banner year for Corvette. Calif was lucky enough to get that fire breathing 305 with a whopping 180 hp.You could tell it was a 1980 Calif. car because the owner always shielded their face as the 11 year old's zipped past them on their skate boards. Cow-a-bunga! |

Garrell it is pretty hard when there isn't a hard and fast answer like the lowest number sold or something like. It may be "well known" as the worse but there is never a sure fire "worse".
That being said I am thinking the same as BB but in 75 the base model had only 165 horse, pretty pathetic and I don't think it sold many. Then in 1980 which had a 305 (gag me) in the California Vette. But again, these are opinions. Brian |
