It's a Ford Futura, I believe, the one that was later made into the 60s Batmobile for the TV series. I bet that's Edsel Ford driving...

Okay, I said "Ford Futura".... I guess that's why I was "close", but not quite there!!

Lincoln Futura - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now, that has to be a big Ford guy... Edsel II. The "original" Edsel died in 1943...

Now, that has to be a big Ford guy... I bet it's Henry Ford II!! I was going to say Edsel II (forgot, the original Edsel Ford died in the 40s!), but he wouldn't have been that old in 1955. Just looked it up, EF2 was born in 1948. That fellow is a bit more than 7 years old!!

Yep that is the Lincoln Futura. Built in 1954. It did indeed become the first TV Batmobile ( Holy Bat Crap Batman! That thing look like a Barris makeover!). The guy behind the wheel is Henry Ford's grandson , Benton. Son of Edsel, brother of Henry II, uncle of Edsel II. Benson didn't contribute much to the auto industry but he knew how to spend Dad's and Grandpa's money.
Just in case you were wondering "what was Batman's first car?" it was a supercharged 1939 Sharknosed Graham Paige Model 96. Outstanding automobile!

Your turn. Go for it!

Hmmm... how about an easy one? What was the first badge engineered car offered by a US manufacturer, and who built it (what overseas company)? It was actually built by two different companies, a bonus if you know what the two were and what parts of the car each built!

"Badge engineered" you mean like the Buick "Opel" which was made in Germany or the Ford Courier made by Mazda?

The first American made re-badged automobile was the Ajax. The Ajax was manufatured by Nash but not sold as a Nash It was a brand by itself. Later on the was re-badged as a Nash Light Six. Same car different name. Nash made more money selling it as a Light Six. The Ajax was never sold as a Nash. This all happened in 1925/26.

Hmm... I know about the Ajax, but that's not what I meant. I should have been clearer!
Brian has the right idea -- I meant like the Buick/Opel setup. I'll give a hint though, the company that designed the car and had it built didn't own or have any stock in the company that built the cars.

How about the Alstate? Sears and Robuck bought Henry J's from Kaiser and sold them as the Alstate.

Wow. Rolls is going way far back! Allstate would be rebadged, but not made specifically for Sears by Kaiser. Okay, another hint... I'm an AMC guy, remember? The car is AMC related. Now that should give it away...
