for years my father would special order his Buicks with manual brakes because on a test drive in 1963 he about put the entire family thru the front wind shield when driving "power" brakes for the first time. He said they were a "hazard to safe driving"

My question is: There was a catalog in the 50s like J.C. Whitney! it was billed rodding and customizing catalog, worlds largest stock of speed, power, mileage, custom equipment, and racing plus top tuning tips from Don Garlets !

The one in my hand is dated< May 1959 ! I'll give you a brake if your young ! fill in the blanks "A--Q---T Equipment of Champions"

Almquist Engineering and Manufacturing owned by Ed Almquist. Ed was a inventor and salesman. Notable inventions include the multicarb fuel log and was co-inventor of the Hurst Shifter. His company later branched out to include
Fiberglass car bodies made to fit numerous chassis.

I remember the catalog but I gotta admit the info came when I checked my answer. Garlets use to run his stuff and Almquist advertising was on some of his cars. Almquist was the guy who use to market the water injector with the Mason Jar. I remember that ad in the back pages of Popular Science right next to the ad for making a fortune raising Chinchillas. I couldn't miss a episode of Gus's Model Garage! BB
