Bonus question: What was the name of the town where the movie CARS took place?

I remembered Pontiac because Smokey told me himself! LOL, No kidding, that guy was such a cool dude. About twenty five years ago I called on an ad in Hemmings motor news on a Buick race engine. Smokey himself answers the phone and I had about a 30 minute (maybe an hour) conversation with the man. He told me about the Pontiac Tempest 4 cyl he had, that is the only reason I knew he ran Pontiacs. I didn't know if they were the first of course, it was the only thing I ever remembered about him other than Chevys and I got it from that phone call.

I know a guy that has 3 hornets and he knew Smokey and has pictures on his wall of the 2 of them working together at the tracks! I thought when someone posted Pontiac and won , maybe no one on the internet or in books knew! Shows you everything isn't recorded!! How did you find out?

> What Caddy model had 2 explores names?"

I worked on a prototype in the mid 70s! that never went into production from the 30s! It was found in England and shipped over by boat! "Antique Motor Car" was doing the restoration I was working there in the 70s. We went home one night and the whole place burned to the ground! That car the only one of its kind is lost forever!! Along with about 50 other rare Cars ) There's a pic of the up stairs of the shop in my journal! I think a small corner of the cars hood open and side panel is in one pic.

I have an old book that talks about Henry Ford having the Detroit cops open fire on his employees when they wanted to Bargain for better pay ( before unions LOL) That's what you call a rough Boss and a Corrupt police force!

When Don Alexander was promoting "Think to Win" he had Smokey Yunick and Joe Leonard as guests. When asked questions they would just go on and talk about their experiences, It was really neat.

No comments? I think this helps explain how some of the first automobiles came to be.

My Dad has a Chilton Automobile Directory from 1923 that lists the name and address of just about every automotive part/supply/tool manufacturer of the time.

I've spent many hours paging through it.....
