"Oddly enough, however, Chevrolet did not offer a cabriolet for 1939. Perhaps this omission should come as no surprise, since only 2,787 of the ragtops had been sold during the 1938 season, but it could hardly have pleased the dealers, who often liked to keep a convertible on the floor as a showroom attraction."
HowStuffWorks "1939 Chevrolet" http://home.znet.com/c1937/Prod.htm There is zero at the production of Cabrolets for 1939. Here is a discussion. 1939 chevy convertible...need some infornation plz - VCCA Chat They mention that the 39 Holden was offered as a Roadster so some of the 39 Chevy's seen may be Holden Roadsters? Ah Hah!! According to the world renown The Free Dictionary " Having a top that can be folded back or removed: a convertible automobile." Does a roadster not have a removable top?

But in the free dictionary located at any swap meet or car show, a car with roll up windows and a folding top is a convertible or cabriolet while a car without roll up windows is a roadster.

What makes a car a cabriolet ,i thought i was a 4 dr convertible with side curtians .whick the site martin posted earlier said no conv cabiorlets were produced in 39 ,didnt see any thing about regular conv, exept reg 39 conv had square windsheild corners converted ones had rounded corners as in the pictures obove . I have a Ga title for my 65 corvette it reads ,Make Chevrolet-model Corvette-body R Cpe it has conv top and sit off hard top . it has roll up windows I sold a 53 vette with side curtians ,had no title im 53 were not titled in Ga .so I dont know how it was designated conv or cabroilet Im still lost. on a site i read it said a roadster had no top like a Cobre i knnow they made tops for them .just quoting what i read
