Ok, my 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport has the battery on the left side behind the Left headlamps, why is the "regular" Skylark's battery on the other side mounted behind the right headlamps?

Does your car have A/C? If so, don't the A/C lines run up the right side? |

Nope, and I have to tell you an AC equipped Gran Sport Skylark is a rare beast, EVERYTHING you can imagine was different on the Gran Sport from the Skylark, they HAD to loose money on that car. Even the AC box on the firewall was different! They only made a total of about 5500 in all body styles, how many AC cars could have been made? Probably in the low, very low hundreds yet it had a different AC box? Wild, I could drive you guys nuts with the Gran Sport trivia there was a TON of odd stuff 65-66 Gran Sport only.
All Gran Sports had the battery on the left while all regular Skylarks had it on the right. Brian |

I can only think of one other thing that would affect the battery placement, and thats the engine, but I don't know much about buicks either. Isn't 65 the first year they used the 401 or 400 whatever buick called it? Or did all of the 65 skylarks have that engine? I guess I should have said starter location on the egnine.....the 400/401 had the starter on the driver side right?

Yep, the 401 was used in the Gran Sport (called a 400 because of the GM rule for nothing larger than a 400 in an A body!) had the starter on the left. So this meant it had a completely different wire harness!
Pretty funny being that the GTO simply had larger pistons in the 326 making a 389, the rest of the drive train was identical to the Tempast. It's your floor Kelly. Brian |

No Brian they were all electric start.
496, All of the 8N tractors from 1947-1952 were red body with gray sheetmetal unless someone had repainted it the wrong color (or possibly some industrial versions were gray, not sure on that). And all of the 8N tractors were four speed. The 9N and 2N were three speeds and were painted all gray. The 9N and 2N both had a very distinguishing feature from the 8N because the 9N and 2N had a brake on each side instead of both brakes on the right side like the 8N. |

Not sure on the seat but as far as I know they were all the same metal "flip over" style seat. To the best of my knowledge the padded covers were an option/luxury. Also on the "live" pto, that was an add on made by the Sherman brothers who also made the Sherman transmission that was offered on the 8N.
I will narrow it down a little because I just thought of another difference that started in 1950, so there are actually 2 noticable differences between 49 and 50 one at the front and one at the back. I will take either one as the correct answer and give the other away when someone gets the right answer. |

I am guessing wheels are one ,tried to find old picyures in my albumns ,a cedar chest full + some.i know wheels on mine were different because old one had new tires and they would not interchenge with the one i bought dont remember the exact years but previous owner probably didnt either, thats not cheating is it
