In 1958 the ford Edsel had a strange speedometer. What was different from a regular speedometer?

it had a revolving speedometer like some A Models and plymouths of the sixties/.

What car had no speedometer hand ,it hav a red ribbon that went across to show speed,when it got above 120 mph it would change to black and keep going to show speed up to 199 mph.

If I recall correctly (and it's likely that I don't!) some Mercs had the ribbon speedo, but none that I know of changed color after speed "x"

Is this a American made production car? And does the speedo actually read 200mph?

My old 55 Buick Super had a drum Speedo but I never got it to 199mph. Close but not quite 199.

My 1969 Lincoln has a red ribbon speedometer. I don't know if it keeps going to 199, I've never had it over 100.

Yes it is american made ,this is a picture of the car it is a Ga Srate Patrol Presuit car,i am assuming they all did this i may be wrong .1st is car in question 2nd is a standard car ,hope these dont give it away as i have in past Note manual shift police car.

That dash on the left is a 61 Plymouth Fury (I think), but it doesn't look like the speedo would do as you describe.
