Were you thinking of " Then Came Bronson" with Michael Parks, riding a Sportster?

Maverick or the Lone Ranger. Horse's. Unless your character was more home based. Then it might be SKYyyyy KINGggggg and his trusty Cessna UC-78/T50/Canadian Crane/BobCat/BamBoo Bomber/Song Bird. Did I ever mention I used to own a Cessna T50?

I used to own a Piper PA-28 180 (Cherokee 180) and I was half-owner of a Cessna 150 at one point. Loved the Piper, some days I sorta wish I still had it, but recreational flying is simply unaffordable now.

And no - the horses involved were not "oat burners", nor were they "out of the clear blue of the western sky...."

(I did love the parody of the Lone Ranger called "the Stoned Ranger" with his sidekick "Toronto"....)

I'll toss a hint in later today if no-one gets it by then.....

Haven't they found that squad car yet? Good guess, but, no, that's no the one.

Interesting story:

About 1990 I answered the phone at my parents house around 9pm one night.

"Hello"
(obviously drunk) "Hi is uhm Bronson there"
"Im afraid you have the wrong number, this is the Huxtable residence"
"Hey! thats a TV show...Is Chris there?"
*hands phone to Dad* "Some drunk guy asked for Charles Bronson and meant you?"
My mom starts laughing and goes on to explain that my dad had a motorcycle in college and was the only one in his rooming house that had one. Apparently there was a TV show "Along came Bronson"? about a guy on a bike at that time...so several of his classmates called him "Bronson" for years.

Not Route 65 either! And even if you watched "Route 33" twice that's not it either!

Sorry!

One of the stars of this show I am thinking of was once married to a lady who was reputed be one of JFK's mistresses.

Well I wished you had mentioned Pres. Kennedy before! That ties it all together. I always was a big fan of Miss Exner. Great gams! And lets not forget Sam "Momo", "Mooney," "Sam the Cigar," and "Sammy." Giancana. If you put Sammy together with "Legs" Exner and subtract JFK you get Jerry Austin. If you have Jerry Austin then you have to include Mike Malone. Mike Malone is really Paul Birch. If you have Paul Birch that automatically brings you to General Motors. It's easy to take GM and wring out a GMC Model 950 COE Tractor which just happens to be the type that the C&A Transport Company ran. The C&A Transport Company leads you right to Jerry Austin's real identity of William Campbell. Campbell was married to Judith Exter. So if Exter was married to Campbell who co-starred with Birch who played Mike Malone who drove the GMC Model 950 COE tractor for the C&A Transport Company along with Campbell who played Austin then the answer has to be "Cannonball". Very simple.
Ray Charles could see that.

You got it, BB! My next clue was gonna be about another star of that show being a tobacco spokesman. (Paul Birch was the Marlboro man!)

OK - you're up

BTW - you are as good at doing I-net research as I have seen in a long while. You might very well have fitted into my team at work. (That, by the way, is a very High compliment as it took me several years to find the right folks to be team members to get the level of expertise I needed to build a team that got international work and recognition!)

For those who did not know of it - the show was on CBS for several years . The general plot was two guys who travel around the country encountering all sorts of issues, people who needed rescuing, folks in trouble, etc. A more-or-less direct copy of "Cannonball" featured 2 guys traveling around the country (etc) in a Corvette instead of a GMC. The director/producer of Route 66 said Cannonball was the direct inspiration for Route 66 .
