that is probably correct,it had an option of the 4 pictured ,but not avalible on newer cars.

the 62 had a 153 /4cyl standard and a 194 -i6 --120hp as an option even with the SS option no v8 were avalible.
the one pictured is a 63 SS it has a 327 not stock CAME WITH A 283 ,,I would still like to own it,

1963 Chevy II Base engine was either a 2.5 4cyl or a 3.2 6 cyl. If thats a original engine in your picture then it would be a 1964-66. V-8's would be either a 283 or later on a 327.

If you will read through those three links, 1958 was the first year for factory installed seat belts. they were available as a dealer installed option as early as 56, but were factory installed in 58.

Someone else post a question.

Someone else post a question.
I thought the question you ask was ,,standard equipment,, as I stated above 58 were avalible as an option ,,63 were factory installed..and sholder restraint,,for the coupe only in 66
I guess I miss understood the question, carry on.

Maybe I was misunderstanding the information I was reading. I took for granted that "factory installed" meant they were standard since they were a dealer option until 58? Either way no harm no foul.

You know I wonder if any two articles agree,i think a lot of them just cause confusion the way I understood they were dealer installed thru 57 ,they were factory installed in 58 as an option but not all had them and in 63 All had the belts from the factory with out having to order them,,,sorry for the confusion just a different interpretation

No worries man, I have been looking for a more clear answer from a reputable place like NCRS but I haven't found anything yet. I wonder if Shine would mind if I sent him a PM. I bet he would know. It doesn't matter in the least, but I am curious now. Because you may be right maybe it was a "factory installed" option and not standard? Anyway go for it. If I find anything that clarifies I will post or PM you.

From what I remember the 63 did not all have them, they were "factory installed", but not in every one of them being they were an option.
That's how I remember......which doesn't mean a whole lot.
