But that's a Cadillac.

My question is what Chevrolet (year and model) was the first to come from the factory with narrow (1") white walls.

Here's another hint: This car was not available with a V8.

Close enough for me.

The Corvair Monza came out mid-year 1960, and was the first Chevrolet available with narrow whites.

Dragonoake, the floor is yours.

I haven't seen one of those in thirty years (my buddy had one in the late-70's)
But no, you're almost 20 years too late

Hint: The model was something of a rebel in a company not usually known (at least until the late-60's) for building performance cars

You got it, the 1957 Rambler Rebel
Due to development troubles, the option never actually saw the showroom floor, but it did get into dealer literature and the Hollander Interchange Manual (the first place I heard about it)

A year later, Chrysler picked up where Rambler left off, but had only slightly better luck with it

Well it wasn't until 1934 before they added a two-seater with dickey and a Traveller's Saloon so it couldn't be that.

No and no, Hint... it made it easier to do something that even today can be a pain in the ***. Formula 1 cars have a similar system.
