I probably shouldn't have answered that one - and would like to defer to someone else that hasn't posted on this thread for a while instead of 'hogging' the subject (a problem with being ancient and a reader of automobile history). I will though if no one else rises to the occasion later today.

Ok here goes. If the second letter is an X on the Vin tag of a late 70's Pontiac Trans Am what special package is it?

What is "late 70's"? I found a number of different answers depending on the year!

It was used in 79 and 80 lets narrow it down to 79.
