We started a trivia thread over at another forum and it has been a lot of fun.
Here are the ground rules. It starts with one question. The first reply with the right answer gets the floor for a new question. It continues like that unless, A) the person who has the floor doesn't ask a new question, or B) no one gets the correct answer. In that case, the person with the floor asks a new question. No more than one question on the floor at a time, and discussion/clarification is welcome until the floor is taken over by a new question.
First question: In the 1952 Indy 500, what type of fuel was burned in the record-setting pole-position #28 car? Hint: it won pole position by a full 4 mph over the second-place Ferrari
Chevys' early small blocks had the un-even bolt pattern. All the 265's and I think the very early 283 also. Did I mention my first engine swap was a Chebby I6 to a 265? That SBC was supposed to be a "RACE" motor with pop-up and cammed and all sorts of goodies. Paid $40.00 for it from the front end guy at work. Lying sack of crap!. But It did go pretty good!
I believe the newer one is a 55 and the older one is a 38 the name century was another name for the car doing a 100 miles an hour, so they called it the Century, Sounds like some thing they would do across the pond.
I'm gonna give it to you although the convertible is a 53 and the older is a 36. Both are Centuries. In 1936 Buick built a production auto capable of reaching 100 mph or as the Brits said "a century" Hence the model name " Century"
The maroon one is a 55 Buick Special, so I would assume the other one (36?) is a special also. No clue on how they got their name....other than maybe because they were the cheaper line of buick (hence the 3 port holes, not 4 like the roadmaster).
look at the rear quarter panel at the word Century ,I sald 54 because that was the first year after they started back making the cenyury they were built36-42 and then again 54-58 one year 69 then started back in 73 using the century name
BB,s picture looks like a cantuty with a rivera package,
from this there were no 53 centurys and the picture has century on rear quarter ,,these are a 53,,54,, 55 in order ,,don't seem to be a 53 even though it is listed on ebay as a century..
Ok I give up!The Buick convert is a 54 not a 53. Look at the Dagmars and headlight trim. 54 not 53.
Wasn't relevant to the question.
When I googled 1953 Buick Century it said. "Move along little man, your bothering me."
After submitting my answer I did look it up and I was correct saying McKinley was the first president to ride in a automobile. Unfortunately that was not the question you asked. As far as the make of the automobile I'll change my answer. I believe it was a 1954 Buick.
BB You were almost as far apart on the car as you can get. LOL But you will have to try again. And you are right on one thing, I didn't ask who was the first President to ride in one, but to order it.:thumbup:
What car was the first to have the horn button in the center of the steering wheel. They also were the first to have electric door latches. And in what year
The horn button, I'm not sure what year the door latches were. So all you have to do is name the car.:thumbup:
BB It wasn't Caddy.:nono::nono: Wrong year also.
Bob
I will be gone for a few hours Have to go get my blood cleaned, it's a PITA but it keeps me alive, so I won't be able to answer any post, thanks guys.:thumbup:
Well no one has jumped in in the last couple of days so I'll answer it.
The first automobile to have a center steering wheel horn button was the 1915 Scripps-Booth Model C. The car was also the first with electric door latches.
Let us know if this is correct Bob because I've got a doosy for the next question!
