Very similar but it got a lot of notice at the time. Pretty big blunder and the fix was outstanding. I do remember a quick blip on a L.A. news program about it.
I was the guy at a Pontiac dealership that got to make the repair. They were to embarrassed to do it on the service isle. But saying all that after I reveal the answer( although I do hope that one of out learned cohorts will get the answer) you'll have to agree that GM went all out to make this repair. I'm sure that countless hours in the GM engineering department were spent to arrive at this extensive repair. I fondly look back on those happy smiling faces of those loyal GM customers as they drove away knowing the GM spared no expense making a problem go away.
