What I was looking for was the term " weight distribution" On a airplane you consider the CG and trim accordingly. Nose high , nose low. Your looking for a neutral balance. With a automobile your not so much concerned with the CG as you are down pressure on the front and rear wheels. Weight distribution is expressed in percentages and is always measured from the middle of the car.
The CG doesn't stay in the middle, it moves to maintain a neutral balance.
The V-8 was about three hundred pounds lighter and it took a lot of pressure off the front end and Chevy said "Well I'll be darned! This thing steers better!"
Go ahead Brian ask away!
