Trouble with 1990 Honda Accord

I have a 1990 Honda Accord DX Automatic with 105000 miles on it. The car is babyed everyday and well maintained. I had the transmission cleaned and serviced 6 months ago as of three weeks ago periodically the car jumps in and out of sports mode without warning. Some days it is constant and some days it does not act up. I have been told that maybe it is the transmission sensor. And told maybe it is the wireing of that maybe it is just dirty and to take it out and clean it. I am not sure were the sensor is located on the engine. I woulkd appreciate any help with this matter.

I would check for codes first. There is a two wire blue connector at the pass kick panel,it will be taped to the harness if it has never been used. You short the two pins together and turn the ignition switch to on and count the number of flashes.

The most common complaint is, S light flashes and the speedo intermittently stops working.Which most of the time is the VSS.

Four flashs from the "S" or "D-4" is a vehicle speed sensor open or shorted.

If you do check the codes as redlightning suggests and find that you get a reading of something different than four flashs, post it, I have the code chart in front of me.
