It is designed for use with a lockup TC.Ppl do run w/o em tho.Not sure what they have to do to make it work rite tho. There is an electrical circuit that runs thru the brakelite switch & a solenoid for operation.I'm not sure that would cause your problem, but,it is possible. You should have a plug on you tranny for that & VSS if the trans is still in stock form.

Sounds like the sprag in the converrter is busted not allowing you to have any kind of slippage required for park or neutral

Those convertors can be tricky to put on.They have to drop twice I think. It's a common problem & once you start it up,it's too late.

Is the TC the same one you were running with the TH400?

If the convertor wasn't fully seated,it's prolly toast already.Maybe he'll get lucky & it turn out to be somethin simpler.

If everything inside is new it shouldn't be a big deal it sitting without fluid. If the converter wasn't seated all the way in the trans you would have some problems getting the bellhousing mated to the block. It sounds more like the clutch pack is seized up to me.

That is not what I was talking about. There is a sprag in the converter, when is busts the converter no longer functions properly. If I'm reading your orginal questions correctly once place the vehicle in gear and try to apply the brakes rather than converter slipping or providing stall, it kills the motor rather than slipping. When the sprag busts it acts like it has a direct drive. The converter is seated all the way, the transmission as a whole would not be working and it would not move. It takes nothing to take out the front pump in a 700r4, it simply would not move in any drive range.

Sounds like somethin ain't rite in the tranny. The Rebuilder may have made a boo boo on assembly. It's prolly gonna need to come apart to figure it out I think. Most good Rebuilders will upgraade the pump, sprag, sunshell, etc to newer updated parts during a rebuild. All of those parts were weak links in the 700 & the ealier 4L60's.Sounds like a botched rebuild job,or, it simply be a bad convertor. Will it drive if you don't brake it,or,does it die as soon as you put it in gear?
