Thanks for the edit Poncho62 , I was going to try and fix that post before anyone got confused, but I guess it had been too long and I couldn't.
i love this rig! the only bad thing about it is that i dont want to take it off road anymore.
the extension of the cab, even tho i installed more body bushings makes it prone to failure.
this truck is mainly built to tow 3 tons with me, the woman, and 4 kids on long journeys.
we go on frequent rides to my parents place at 6000 feet, so a REAL 4wd was a must.
this summer it will be painted Olive Drab green like the hood and roof.
i dont have a paint booth, so in order to make the paint last i have to wait till its prime season.
both are sound both suspension wise and engine transmission wise.
just need to dig through my parts boxes and spend some time on them
shes fun to drive, and well built.
i have a few things to work out and then shes ready to take cross country trips!
glad ya like it!
ive been building customs for 15 years, been a gear head all of my life.
but now that the diesels are done, i need to get back on my pontiacs!!
up next is a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville 2dr hardtop
and a 1942 Pontiac torpedo 8 2dr coupe.
ive had the best distraction the past 8-9 months.
i built this rig for my new born twins.
and now im in the process of finishing it.
thanks to a heavy right foot, high EGT's and cracked cast iron
well its ready for clean up and paint.
still gonna take me another month or so, but here it is!!!
the silver engine is a mock up engine.
the blue engine will be the runner,
a new 030 over 7.3 IDI, studded top and bottom with a girdle.
inconel valves, torque cam, roller rockers, and all the bells and whistles i could throw at it.
a reverse shackle kit has been done, new bumper, rear anti axle wrap, 2011 F350 emblums, i have SD interior to put in it.
new inner fenders and a complete make over!
the wheel base is crazy long as it is.
i dont need an 8 foot bed, nor do i want to park a 23 foot long truck lol
if i need to carry plywood, ill jump in another truck! ive got a few lol
this is being built as a daily driver, so i can get my kids around.
im driving them around in a 98 PSD E350 for now.
i can still put a engine and trans in the back
the site is actin weird, cant even edit the above post.
anyways....
heres an update.
truck is painted and in the process of going back together.
been a year since ive driven it, but itll be worth it.
i picked em up on e-bay. 290 bucks tho....
bought 2 wrecked fenders for 20 a piece, and frenched em in.
figured if im gonna spend the time, i better spend the time.
so ive finally finished this thing up!
still need to paint the tail gate, and build a rear bumper.
but for the most part its complete!
ive also done a few more things besides this truck, the next one is a 01 SD 6 door short bed, being converted to single rear wheel.
