Trying to decide on a direction

I am new to this, so bear with me. I have acquired a 40 Chevy Special Deluxe and am trying to decide what direction would be the best and easiest way to go. It is a solid car with minimal rust, still sitting on its original frame. I do know that I will be streetrodding it but am not sure where to start. Should I consider using the frame and subframing it or would it make sense to consider maybe an S-10 frame? Which would be better? I can go either way as the parts are easy to obtain. I don't much welding experience so any help would be appreciated. I do know that I will be going with a SBC and 350 automatic. Budget is also another consideration. Here is a photo of what I am starting with. As I start moving forward, I will post some photos of my progress. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

a mustang 2 crossmember and suspension, from a well known manufacture is a pretty easy install on to your stock frame
(if you can get a buddy to weld it for you if you are not able)
