That's not for the faint of heart, I did it by myself to my '68 but combined it with a complete back half kit which gave me lots of room to work. I have some pictures posted in the old album but they only show the cardboard templates used to get the inner fender shape to transfer to the metal tubs once they were assembled. It's way more involved than just that, do you plan to narrow your frame rails or back half the car? Depending on what you need to stuff under there, you may just want to do the mini tub thing and save yourself some major surgery and fabrication, but they aren't exactly a snap either. Buy a kit for sure.

I intend to move to my new album soon and will post some pictures of the operation in the next day or so. I can also email you a more detailed description of how I went about it rather than take up a ton of space here. Kits aren't very pricey and do have detailed instructions. If you'd like I can even send you my old instructions if you give me an address to send them to, or I can probably scan/email them. Check out the link below for more pictures and information.

Good luck

That's where I got my kit from, and they do have some pretty good instructions. Like 68 said, it's not a simple project. How skilled are you with a welder? What are you trying to do with the car, and how big of a tire do you want back there?

BTW Axle, with 24 X 40 tubs and making my rear sub-frame 26 inches I get M/T 15x31x18.5 Sportsmans in the wheel well using a 12 inch wheel (I know I should be using a 12 - 14 wheel)with 5 inches of backset. The rear is 43 inches flange to flange, the axles (Masterlines) have a 3.5 " standout each side, the disc brake hat is almost 1/2" thick and the wheel thickness is also 1/2". It's a snug fit at the rear of the fender opening so the rear housing position has to be dead nuts on or you'll be stretching or cutting the opening!

Tubbed has been there and I imagine several others, so you'll find plenty of help here.

Hope this helps.

I know how you feel on the 12" wheel 68, but I personally like the look of a wider wheel on a rim. How much clearance do you have on from tire to fender? I don't care for the look of the wheels too far in, so I set mine at about 3/4" on both sides. Do you think I'm going to run into problems? I don't plan on taking hard corners on the street, but stuff happens...

Bent, the tubb job on my car (pics in album) was my uncle's and I first time. It came out great too. I would just recommend a lot of planning before action. Measure everything a few times before making any cuts or welds.
