tuning a fuel injected motor

I have a 73 nova with a 383 stroker with fuel injection, computer in car is a Bigstuff 3 ecm. I recently left a post similiar to this but now I have a few more questions. I was working on making the motor fire up instantly after turning key, instead the motor cranks for a second or two.

I talked to one guy and he said to increase the injector pulse width during cranking, I did that and it helped a little but the motor still cranks longer than normal. It doesn't matter if it is cold or warm, or if the motor has been running for a while. It cranks longer than I think it should. I remember with the carburetor on the motor, it would fire up really quick. All the parameters of the motor can be adjusted through the ecm.

Does anyone know what else might cause the motor to crank longer than neccesary?
timing is not far advanced, maybe about 12 degrees at idle.
fuel pressure is about 55 psi, have 55 lb injectors.
If you need to know anything else about the setup, please let me know, so I can help you help me.

need to get this fixed before the carshows start

thanks

Dan
