Tuning Holley Carbs

I'm thinking about using a Holley carb on my next engine and I'm going to take some advice that I've seen here. "Read up on how they work and how to tune them". So... what do you think the best book to get would be? Here is a couple I've found.
How to Build & Power Tune Holley Carburetors (Speedpro Series) by Des Hammill
Holley 4150/4160 Carburetor Handbook by Mike Urich
These 2 books a good place to start? Suggestions?

Thanks, Mike

SA Designs Holley book is good.
Alex Walordy's book is good too.

I'd recommend both.

holleies are the best style of carb. imo

if you havent rebuilt one, they arent too bad. rally, even for a novice. the best way to familiarize yourself is to take it apart. buy a used one for cheap, and learn. the service kit is like 20 bucks. rebuilds come cheap. once you get good it takes a couple of hours and its ready.(download the manual)

you tune them by idle vacuum. the idle screws help idle mixture. the jets can adjust the circuits mixture. the accel pump is for hard acceleration tunning. the spring that holds against the secondaries blades can be swapped. this gives it a fuel curve , not unlike your dizzies timming curve.

in a nut shell, thats it
