turbo 350 4wd unit to 2wd?

was wondering, can a guy take a 4wd turbo 350 tranny ( remove the transfer case , leaving a flat end on tranny ) and bolt a long shaft piece for a 2wd? does that work?

No, the trans has to be completly stripped down to replace the output shaft. You can't just throw a 2wd tailhousing on it, the length and spline of the shaft is different.

It's unfortunately not that simple, IIRC.

I believe you need to swap the output shaft and add the correct housing and speedo gears to make it happen. The swap requires the tranny come all the way apart except for the VB.

EDIT- I didn't just get treed, I got forest-ed! lol Sorry 'bout that. Got sidetracked and should have looked first before posting.
