Cool

howziit guys!

JMO, it depends on your driving wants/needs. if i lived 40 miles out of town, i'd consider a TH-700R4 or TH-200R4, for my '56 truck with big-block.

since my cruising radius is short, my TH-350 trans,/3.00 rear/29" tires suffices. if i run a 600cfm carb, i can squeeze 17mpg on the freeway.

for MY needs, a 350 trans is perfect. if/when it self-destructs, a built 400 trans is what i'll want.

The 700r4 has a bad reputation from its early days in the early 80's till about 86 when they were very week many people gave up on them and switched back to the thm350 but these days 700's initial weaknesses have long since been corrected and are capable of handling big block power when properly built. Any reason some people have trouble with them is from miss treatment. Many people hook up there trailer and shove her in drive. this trans are not meant to tow in overdrive this is a sure fire way to kill one another common abuse is lack of fluid changes they will not live long with out having their fluid changed. when properly build maintained and treated these trannies will give great service plus a super deep gear for a good launch while delivering good cruise RPM even with really aggressive rear gears.

I just finished installing a "Bowtie Overdrive" Stage 2 200R4 O/D trans in my 76 Monte Carlo. It was a little tedious to install and adjust the TV cable but runs very well. They have you run a wide open throttle test and in my car 1st to 2nd gears shift at 5000 RPM, both 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th gears shift at 4500 RPM. The car has a 425 HP 383 stroker with 3.73 gears in the rear. I love to go fast, but the 200 R4 accelerates faster than the TH 350 did and at first it was a little scary. You see in Ohio we have the death penalty for speeding LOL. I was doing 90 MPH on the Interstate when the trans shifted into 4th gear during the wide open throttle test. The stage 2 will stand up to a steady diet of 450 Ft. lbs. of torque.
