Turbo 350 shift shaft seal

What is the best way to replace this seal? I dropped the pan but I don't know how to get the shaft out so I can replace the seal. Pulling the seal with the shaft in does not look like an option. Any Ideas?

Pop the flat type c-clip that straddles the shift arm and there is a nut on the end of shift arm inside the trans that needs to be removed , also take the long detent roller spring off that is held on with one valve body bolt. Then just pull the arm out , once you get it out you may have to file the inside end , so it will reinstall easily.
Just watch how you take the parts off so you can put them back the way they came off.
Been a few days since I was into one , but that ought to be close.

You guys are doing it the hard way......this little tool will remove the seal will taking the pan off.....just remove the shift arm and take the black tool and screw it down into the seal. Then turn the bolt and it pulls the seal. Lube the new seal and shaft and then install new seal. Use the silver tool as a seal installation tool.......

Took longer to type how to do it than to actually do it.

About $10 for the tool.....
