turbo 350 speedo drive to VSS

I've been checking the internet trying to find a reasonable way to provide a signal for a TBI setup using the mech.cable speedo drive but still have a signal for the TBI system. someone told me there was some sort of an adapter where you remove the stock driven gear and insert where the cable screws onto the tail shaft and this box provides a signal. All I've found so far is the complete tailshaft conversion ranging between 400-500 a little steep in my book, Any answers out there. Thanks, Eric
