Unhappy Turbo 350 Transmission Somthing Wrong

Hi, I'm helping my son build his first car a 1987 camaro. We put in an older 350CID with a 350 Turbo. I bought the tranny about 2 years ago from a rebuild shop and was told the tanny was rebuilt and it looked it. We put in a 2500 stall and a B$M shift kit in it and just recently fininshed the car. The car was running good up and down the driveway the last few months never being on the road yet and all of a sudden we have reverse but no forward gears. I checked vacuum lines, shift linkage, shift cable and even dropped the pan and fluid to see if it was shifting up inside okay. The fluid looked good but a little fine gritty film at the bottom of the pan. The fluid smelled fine also. Any help????

if the tranny sat too long without use or fluid the seals may have become dried out.
