turbo 4oo gearbox problems

Do you have vacuum hooked up to the modulator? I replaced the turbo 400 in my gremlin years ago, and the new(used) tranny wouldnt shift into 3rd gear,my helper forgot to hook up the vacuum line to the modulator.hooked it up and it shifted fine.

Could be the o rings on the back of the pump pinched. That commodore v6 will have it's work cut out turning a real auto.
