Turbo 400 leaks into transfer case

I put a rebuilt Turbo 400 into my 86 Chevy K30 4x4 dually pick up about 2000 miles ago. The truck sits un used alot, from a few days to a few weeks at a time. While it's sitting it seems like maybe the torque converter is leaking down into the transmission causing fluid to leak into the transfer case(NP205). This results in a very over full transfer case, and a very under full transmission. Is this a converter problem, a rear seal problem, or both?

We have had that exact same problem on 2 different 4by trucks. When we had the last th400 rebuilt, the shop gave us TWO seals for the adaptor that goes inbetween the tranny and transfer case. There are TWO seals used there, they go in up against each other on the tranny end of the adaptor. First one in goes all the way down, about 3/4" in and the lip faces the transfer case. Next one in goes up against that one, but with the seal lip facing the tranny. The ones we had that passed fluid only had one seal and the tranny always leaked back into the transfer case. Now with BOTH seals properly installed, no more auto tranny fluid in the transfer case.

Thanks Mark, I'll pull it apart and get two seals in there the way you described. Thanks again, Latheman
