Turbo 400 with manual valve body & reverse pattern...

Just installed one of these in my old truck... It was built by a reputable builder here local and seems to work fine except...?

When I down shift even at low speeds it seems to not put any drag on the engine (increase RPM) but of course I`m doing this at lower speeds but with a 4.56 rear gear it should be noticable...? This trans was built for street/strip or was supposed to be...?

So is this normal...? Havent had a lot of time to mess with it... Just delivered it last night to the body shop for a long awaited makeover (see the old pic`s in my gallery)...

I don't think those thing are to be downshifted unless completely stopped, I know the trans brakes are not used like that.

So just leave it in 3rd till I stop...? Not a problem... One other question since this thing is fully manual does it hurt anything to take off in 2nd or 3rd other than really making the stall work...? (produces heat for sure)

most reverse pattern v-bodys do not have engine braking in 2nd gear..... if I understand your question.

yes, leave the tranny in 3rd till you are nearly stopped....
