turbo 400 only has 5 gear positons

the trans has park, reverse, neutral, drive, and a nother gear, low range maybe??? i was wondering if i could put a manul valve body on it and be able to shift gears because its going on a mud truck and i need 1st , 2nd and 3rd only . and help???

Park/reverse/neutral/3/2/1/ this is the way it should be. Yes you can have a manual valve body installed. Mud truck or not people run them on the street also. Cole

theres only one position after drive. is there something wrong with this ? Matt

What kind of shifter do you have . If its after market it might be out of adjustment. If the shifter is all good then there is definetly something wrong somewhere. Cole

factory 85 k5 steering cloum shift, it only moves 5 on the gear slector on the the trans it self

Something is a miss here. Something not right . You could pm crosley and i know he will know what to tell you. there is definetly something not right .I know for a fact it should be park, reverse, neutral , 3, 2, 1. I mean you said its a turbo 400 and this is the pattern for it. humm now i am confused . Cole

Something is wrong with the shifter linkage of the vehicle or internal linkage on the transmission.

A quick check would be to unbolt the shifter linkage and cycle the trans linkage from park to low gear. If that is incorrect, I would pull the pan off.

I have built transmissions for land speed racing , where 'park and reverse ' was blocked out.. so there was a neutral , 3, 2, 1
