same problem

hey, i am in the same problem as you. I bought a turbo 400 without paying to much attention it works and i only paid 120 for it. and im putting it in a SWB stepside chevy 1980. im going from a 700r4 to Th400 and i also of the fixed yoke on the tail of my tranny. not sure where to go from here. CAN SOME ONE TELL ME HOW TO TAKE THE FIXED YOKE OUT? I have looked alot online and no luck until i found this page. -thanks should i go to the junk yard and get a drive shaft or can i put a slip yoke into it? will the one off the 700r4 some how work? -thanks again

The Yoke bolts to the end of Trans output shaft. Remove the Driveshaft from the Yoke at the U-joint, then unbolt the Yoke.
Yes you can get a Slip Yoke. J-yard or Driveshaft Shop.
The TH700R4 has a smaller 27 spline Yoke. It may not fit as a normal TH400 has a larger 32 spline Yoke.

yes i unbolted the yoke from the drive shaft, and unbolted that one bolt on the other half of the yoke thats on the tail of the tranny, but it wont slide out?? am i doing sumthing wrong?? or what do i have to do?? it feels like maybe a snap ring is holding it from sliding out? -thanks

The only thing holding a fixed yoke in place is the bolt. Once the bolt is out the yoke slips right out. There is nothing else holding it in place.

I would just use a "bigger hammer" to get the yoke out.
