Hey yall, im hoping someone on here can assist me in figuring out what wrong with my fresh turbo 400
My father and i just rebuild my turbo 400 (hes was a tranny guy for gm for 40 yrs) but hes getting older in his years, im not a tranny guy at all...
that being said we rebuilt a turbo 400 tranny a few weeks ago and i installed it the other day. it was a std rebuild with a b&m "stage 2" shift kit. the problem im having is it wont stay in 3rd after its warmed up.
when i drive to work in the morning (8mi) its cold out and my truck dosent even get up to operating temp get to about 160 when i arrive. and it shift good my 1/2 happens about 2500-2900 and 2/3 happens about the same place
Note i have a larger cam and a brand new 2500 stall converter
now when i drive home it much warmer out side so my truck is to temp quickly. and as soon as it about 170 -180 my trans drops out of 3 in to 2nd and will not go back in to 3rd. as well as the 1/2 shifts happen at 4700
i though it may have something to do with the clutch pack so i stopped the other day and checked that it will go in to reverse and it does and works like it should in reverse
i have a adjustable modulator and i have messed with it to no end. ive pulled it so far out that it will shift in the 1500 range.
Im lost and stumped
my truck is a 70 c-10 400 sbc with 3.07 rear end. unknown cam but is has a very mild looped to it.
any help would be great or if your in the Simi Valley Area and want to make a few buck id be happy to drive it somewhere and have you look at it.
