What type/brand of Carb? Holley, Edelbrock & Q-Jet require the correct TV Cable Bracket.
Holley & Edelbrock require a specific "TV Cable Geometry Corrector" Bracket on the Carb Linkage.
Summit, Jegs etc.. have them.

You need to get the TV Cable Geometry Corrector, and the correct bracket. Proper TV cable adjustment is not something to be taken lightly with a 700R4/4L60, improper adjustment and abuse can trash them FAST. To quote B&M, in their shift kit instructions, if the TV cable is not properly adjusted, "the trans can be destroyed in ONE SHIFT"!! That may be just a little overly dramatic, but it can also be true under the right circumstances

If you're handy with fabricating, you can save yourself some time and trouble by making the stuff yourself. You will find instructions for what the brackets need to look like and do here:
http://www.bmracing.com/bmracing/ins...9500260-12.pdf , there is also a pressure chart to help make sure you get it right, if you have access to a trans pressure gauge.
