Twin I-beam Ford front axels used on street rods

Can the Ford twin I-beam front axels, if used on a street rod, be heated and dropped in the same way that the early Ford straight axels are dropped to lower ride heigths on Street Rods?

Yes they can - but I strongly suggest that you do a site search. There are several folks that have tried these but with little lasting success. There are 3-4 threads you can look at for information -

Cboy used a Ford pickup as his donor in his eBook, it was a lot of work. click on the eBook at the top of the page, also check out his other build posts.. lots of information.

The pre '81 beams can be heated and bent. After '81, beams were cast and not forged and cannot be bent. I used the entire front frame from a 1994 Ford Ranger ( Twin I beam ) on my scratch built, rather than fabricate my own frame. It would have been tough to figure out the angles.
